I despise disorder in something that I use constantly. For instance, our "spice rack" wasn't a rack at all; rather it was a meager cubby in one of the kitchen cabinets. I cook often, and it seemed that anytime I needed something, it required to empty the entirety of its contents and 10 min to find it the ruddy thing (it's always garlic salt....always). At my wits end, I decided to surprise my wife while she was away for a week with an awesome new spice rack that would be tailored to fit to the curve of the kitchen ceiling and everything!!
Now, I know what you are thinking: amateur carpenter, spice rack...it's reminiscent of Homer's work from the TV show "The Simpsons" attempting the same task. I was sure I couldn't do worse...
So, with my rough draft all ready to go
So I start measurin'! I start cuttin'! I start sawin'!! After about 6 hours I had something that resembled what was
Not too shabby if I do say so myself! I got that angle pretty decent and the spices actually fit in the shelves. Home-run if ya ask me!
"...but...uhhh....what's goin' on in the lower right-hand corner there?" you may ask. Well it seems the old adage of "measure twice, cut once" rings true. Though on the bright side, if it was square, the rosemary wouldn't fit on the bottom shelf....
.....which is where it goes!
Needless to say my wife was very surprised (with my purchases or the rack....I'm not sure)!
She loves it!
Now this only fuels the fire to undertake more projects that are more elaborate and more chic!
There is no stopping me now....
Stay tuned for next time: Oak Bookcase!
